Production Pics: 40th Anniversary Production in Brighton, UK

I don't want us to spend too much time comparing our production design to that of other productions, but this new 2013 professional 40th anniversary production that just opened in England has a lot of design elements that we are thinking about incorporating into our show, so I thought I would post some production photos that I downloaded off of Facebook.

  1. I love the saturated color in the sets, costumes, and especially the lighting.
  2. I love the eclectic decorations in the castle, especially the animal heads on the wall (the dodo is perfect). This goes along with some things George and I were discussing about our castle interior. It also supports Brad's line about the place looking like a "hunting lodge for rich weirdos."
  3. Frank's femininity is really refreshing.
  4. The 2-D church and car (among other scenery items) is great.
  5. Love the neon Vitruvian man with the Charles Atlas muscle man flexing as a third level.
  6. I like the way they did the TV monitor in the lab.
  7. I love Frank's use of his cape a la Dracula.
  8. The film strip border makes me think of our production concept.
  9. The pics of the Time Warp look like they came out of a horror film. Which is good.
  10. The use of the hazer makes all the lights turn it into a rock concert, which it essentially is.
  11. Riff Raff's "Hot Topic" candelabra.
  12. I especially like how OPEN the stage space is.
  13. It also reminds me that Linda and Vern and I need to remember that the Curtain Call is its own distinct musical sequence that must be staged.
